Events
We are committed to live as family with each other in disagreement and agreement, in sorrow and joy. Part of this mission is building our relationships with each other through fun events and activities. There are many ways to participate, including age or gender divided groups and events open to all.
Groups
Keenagers
Keenagers is a group of seniors who meet monthly for fellowship, education, and inspiration. The group gathers frequently for potlucks or restaurant lunches and for special programs on a variety of topics. In addition, Keenagers perform many service and fundraising activities throughout the year, including the Annual Craft and Bake Sale in December, to raise money for various worthy organizations.
Men’s Group
KINGS (Knights IN God’s Service) is St. Andrew’s men’s group, and it is open to men of all ages. KINGS focuses on education, service, and fellowship. The group has regular presentations and discussion series. In the past the group has studied topics such as the life of King David and the contributions of Martin Luther. KINGS also performs services such as setting up and taking down Christmas trees for shut-ins and raising money for various groups. Fellowship is also very important to the group. Sports events and dining out are favorite activities.
Women's Groups
- WELCA - St. Andrew’s has a newly formed Women of the ELCA chapter. The group is still forming its structure and mission, but does hold two monthly Bible Study Circles (Hope and Faith). In addition, the group has hosted a fellowship luncheon event and fundraiser.
- WINGS Women's Group - WINGS (Women IN God’s Service) is a fellowship and support group for women of St. Andrew’s. The group meets monthly for fellowship gatherings at restaurants and homes. WINGS members also go on a retreat each winter.
Youth Group
St. Andrew’s Youth Group is for high school students. This group is very active, meeting each week, and participating in many fellowship and service activities.
Middle School Youth
Middle school youth form their own group for study, service, and fellowship. In addition to other activities, youth of this age meet every week for special instruction in Christianity and what Lutherans believe (confirmation classes). This instruction prepares them to renew their Baptism and become full members of the church.
Small Group Ministries
St. Andrew’s has many small groups of about 10 people each. These groups meet weekly at each others’ homes for fellowship, prayer, and Bible study.
Events
Family Retreat
Generally held at a camp outside Julian in February, the family retreat is open to people of all ages. The retreat begins Friday evening and ends Sunday. Activities include small group Bible studies, games, worship, and the infamous No-Talent Talent Show. Consider joining us next year! The retreat is a great way to get to know others.
Women's Retreat
Each winter, the women of the church go to a mountain retreat center for a weekend to rest, learn, pray, sing, worship, and play. Any woman 18 years or older is welcome to attend the retreat (and feel welcome to bring a friend!).
Carols Around the Table
Carols Around the Table is an annual event where the community gathers to eat cookies, decorate the church Christmas tree, and sing Christmas carols. Spiritmovers (dance group) also performs.
Summer Picnic
Each summer, St. Andrew’s hosts a picnic at a local park. The picnic includes a barbeque and baseball and lots of fun.
Thanksgiving Pie Social
This favorite event occurs right before Thanksgiving. The community gathers to worship and stays to eat pie!
